Henrik Harlaut recovered from the concussion. Now the freeskiing star is sidelined by knee problems. "A very difficult decision to make, but it still feels right in this situation," the Swede said in a statement.

Earlier in the Olympics, the 34-year-old crashed during slopestyle training and suffered a concussion. Since then, his time in the Italian ski resort has been all about recovery.

Finally, he received the go-ahead from team doctor Jakob Swanberg.

Now it's another body part that's causing problems for Harlaut, who won bronze four years ago at the Beijing Olympics.

During training on Friday, he had problems with his knee - and now he has chosen not to compete in the big air qualifying on Sunday.

"It's so emotional to realize that it won't work with big air this time. My head feels good and the knee isn't really that bad, but the combination makes it impossible," he says.

"I'm so incredibly grateful for all the help and support I've received this past week; sad that my Olympics are ending like this."

Team doctor Jakob Swanberg:

"If he's going to achieve what he wants in big air, the effort has to be 100 percent. Hesitation itself is a risk. He has no margin at the moment when it comes to his head. His knee doesn't work well enough for it to be possible overall," he says.

The big air qualifying in Livigno will be held on Sunday. Jesper Tjäder and Martin Nordqvist will participate.
