Hamas chief negotiator has landed in Cairo for talks on the ceasefire, according to the terrorist-stamped Palestinian group.
"A delegation led by Khalil al-Hayya, leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has arrived in Cairo and begun meetings with Egyptian representatives to follow up on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement", Hamas writes in a statement.
The goal is to "discuss ways to put an end to the current crisis and ensure that the occupation power adheres to the agreement", says a representative to the news agency AFP, referring to Israel.
During the first phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the parties will exchange hostages and prisoners in several stages. Some exchanges have already taken place, but in recent days the parties have accused each other of violating the agreement, and Hamas has threatened not to hand over three hostages on Saturday as planned.
US President Donald Trump has in turn threatened that "hell will break loose" if Hamas does not honor its commitments.
