IFK Gothenburg had taken over the game in the second half and were clearly closest to victory in the Allsvenskan derby, but Oscar Jansson made several fine saves in the Häcken goal.
2–2 seemed to be the final score – then Häcken decided the match. Gothenburg were caught napping on a free kick, Mikkel Rygaard saw a completely free Simon Gustafson and Häcken's captain could make it 3–2 behind Pontus Dahlberg in the home goal.
"Terrible second half"
There is a chemistry there that has been well taken care of over a longer period, says Simon Gustafson about the collaboration with Rygaard on the free kick.
We're caught sleeping. It's not acceptable in any way. You have to be able to turn your head, says Gothenburg coach Stefan Billborn about the 3–2 goal.
He's free from seven meters. I don't think you're satisfied with that even in division 7, he continues.
Gustafson enjoyed the derby victory in front of 17,318 spectators at Gamla Ullevi.
It tastes good. It also tastes a bit extra good because I think we have a completely terrible second half. Football isn't logical, but it's nice sometimes that it is, says the 30-year-old to Max.
Häcken took the lead in the 23rd minute through Srdjan Hristic and the Hisings team dominated for most of the first half.
We got the match exactly where we wanted it. Except that we fall through twice, says Simon Gustafson.
First, it was Kolbeinn Thordarsson who could nod in the equalizer between Oscar Jansson's legs in the 39th minute.
A few minutes later, Glenn Nyberg awarded a penalty to the home team. This after Max Fenger had been fouled by an advancing goalkeeper. Although Fenger was first in the situation, Jansson touched the ball afterwards, but the attacker thought it was a clear penalty.
"Damn piss"
I come first to the ball and then he kicks me on the thighs, says Fenger to Max.
Fenger himself put the penalty away to 2–1, but two minutes later Amor Layouni nodded in the equalizer behind Pontus Dahlberg in the Gothenburg goal.
Damn piss that we can't hold it until halftime, says Fenger.
It would get even heavier for Fenger and company – in stoppage time, one point turned into zero when Simon Gustafson decided the match.
Both teams are on six points after four rounds.
