+ Swedish squad
Women: Ebba Andersson, Maja Dahlqvist, Evelina Crüsell, Johanna Hagström, Moa Ilar, Frida Karlsson, Moa Lundgren, Emma Ribom, Märta Rosenberg, Jonna Sundling.
Men: Edvin Anger, Gustaf Berglund, Emil Danielsson, Johan Ekberg, Anton Grahn, Johan Häggström, Leo Johansson, Alvar Myhlback, Jesper Persson, Eric Rosjö, Marcus Grate.
+ Where are Svahn, Poromaa and Halfvarsson?
Linn Svahn missed the Swedish premiere with a cold, and is not ready for the season debut. William Poromaa, World Championship silver medalist in 50 km last winter, became ill during the competitions in Gällivare and is also out. Veterans like Calle Halfvarsson and Jens Burman, however, cannot be blamed on illness, their efforts this weekend were simply too poor to give them a place in the squad.
+ Has Alvar Myhlback changed his mind?
Yes, at least temporarily. The 19-year-old, who sensationally won the Vasaloppet, has said that he is focusing on the long-distance cup and has dismissed all talk that he should focus on the World Cup and the Olympics. When Aftonbladet asked on Friday if he was keen on the World Cup premiere, he replied "No, damn it!", but apparently national team manager Anders Byström has changed his mind about the super talent.
+ Will the blue and yellow ladies continue to dominate?
The Swedish women won all six gold medals at the World Championships in Trondheim last winter. Since then, Norwegian icon Therese Johaug has retired and German star Victoria Carl is suspended for doping violations, so there is a lot to suggest that the blue and yellow team will continue to dominate. Ebba Andersson, Maja Dahlqvist and Jonna Sundling all showed great form in the Swedish premiere. Frida Karlsson, who won World Championships gold in the 5km in Trondheim, was not as convincing. She was far behind Andersson in the 10km freestyle on Sunday, but has also just finished a long training period at high altitude.
