+ The opening round

April 4: Hammarby-Mjällby, Degerfors-Sirius (both 3:00 p.m.).

April 5: AIK-Halmstad, Kalmar FF-Västerås SK (both 2:00 p.m.), Örgryte-Malmö FF (4:30 p.m.).

April 6: Häcken-Brommapojkarna, Elfsborg-IFK Gothenburg (both 2:00 p.m.), Gais-Djurgården (4:30 p.m.).

+ How to watch the matches

Football is back on TV4 and that means new things, including 15 matches being broadcast on linear TV, with Hammarby–Mjällby being the first to be broadcast on April 4 at 3:00 p.m. All matches are broadcast on TV4 Play.

+ Last year's winner

Mjällby's progress in the Allsvenskan caught everyone's attention. Several international media outlets were on hand in little Hällevik to understand how the club could be on its way to a historic Swedish championship title. The players barely cared about the headlines. They continued as usual and eventually secured victory in the Allsvenskan, 13 points ahead of the closest challenger Hammarby.

+ Favorites

The Allsvenskan's opening poll, in which coaches and the media were allowed to vote, showed that Hammarby is the favorite ahead of, among others, defending champions Mjällby. The bookmakers are on the same page and place Malmö FF, who finished sixth last year, third in the fight for the Lennart Johansson trophy.

+ Newcomers

Kalmar FF quickly made their way back to the top flight after an impressive season in Superettan, as did Västerås SK. Örgryte made it to the Allsvenskan via qualifiers against IFK Norrköping and now gets to play in the Swedish top division for the first time since 2009.

+ Interesting new acquisitions

A lot of players have been brought in, and there are some interesting additions. Achraf Dari will strengthen Kalmar FF's defense, Bilal Hussein should help Degerfors finish higher in the table, and Oliver Berg has left the big clubs to become a big name at Brommapojkarna.

+ Coach changes

AIK finally decided to part ways with Mikkjal Thomassen and appointed the Spaniard José Riveiro. Malmö FF is also investing in a Spanish coach, Miguel Angel Ramirez. Kalle Karlsson left Västerås SK to join Hammarby; Alexander Rubin is VSK's coach. Oscar Hiljemark left Borås and Elfsborg for Italian side Pisa and was replaced by assistant national team captain Björn Hamberg. Anders Thorstensson took Mjällby to a historic Swedish championship gold but has now been appointed technical director. Endika Gavina has taken over.
