It has been intense days for Swedish Greta Thunberg, who after being deported from Israel is back in Sweden.
The goal of her and eleven other activists' trip to Gaza was to deliver aid. But about a week after departure, during the night leading up to Monday, the ship was boarded by Israel on international waters. The activists were taken to Israel, interrogated, and four of them have been deported, including Thunberg.
The situation during the detention was "quite chaotic and uncertain," Thunberg said according to AP when she stopped over in Paris on Tuesday. At the same time, she emphasized that it is not possible to compare what people go through in Gaza.
The organization behind the voyage, Freedom Flotilla, writes in a statement that Israel's detention of the activists was "unlawful, politically motivated and a direct breach of international law".
The attempts to deliver aid to Gaza will continue – but via land, Thunberg said at Arlanda. If she herself plans to participate is unclear.
Earlier in the week, US President Donald Trump called Thunberg a "young, angry person".
I think the world needs many more young, angry women, she said in response on Tuesday.
