This is stated by Moatasem Zedan, spokesperson for the Israeli human rights organization Adalah, to TT.
The activist ship approached the Gaza Strip with emergency aid when it was boarded by Israeli military during the night towards Monday. Greta Thunberg and the eleven other activists were taken into custody.
"After more than 20 hours of being deprived of freedom, we have received information that confirms that the activists from the boat 'Madleen' - who tried to break the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip - are currently on their way to Ben Gurion", writes Moatasem Zedan in a text message.
"Interrogations are expected to take place there before they are deported to their home countries."
Expected to leave Israel
Staff from Adalah are on site at the airport to try to meet the activists. Diplomatic staff are also on site.
Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms on social media that the activists have been transported to Ben Gurion and are expected to leave Israel "within the coming hours".
Those who "refuse to sign deportation documents to leave Israel" will be "brought before a court of law in accordance with Israeli law, to approve their deportation", writes the department.
Loaded with emergency aid
The ship, belonging to the organization Freedom Flotilla, was boarded after Israel previously stated that it would not be allowed to reach Gaza.
Madleen set sail from Sicily on June 1. The activists had loaded the boat with emergency aid in the form of, among other things, diapers, infant formula, flour, rice and medical equipment.
