Sweden's emissions of greenhouse gases increased by seven percent last year, according to preliminary figures from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Amanda Lind emphasizes in her speech that this is the largest emission increase in 15 years and that Swedish emissions are "skyrocketing".
We used to be a country that other countries in Europe looked at to see what was possible. Now the government has seen to it that we are instead in the bottom league, she says.
But that's enough now, Sweden deserves better.
Cheaper to lease an electric car
The Green party wants to see a fair climate transition throughout the country, she says. In cities, cheaper and more accessible public transport, and for those who need a car, it should become cheaper to lease an electric car.
With our policy, a low-income earner in the countryside could lease an electric car for 1,500 kronor a month, says Amanda Lind.
She states that this would correspond to a petrol price of five kronor per liter.
The spokesperson is also critical of the fact that too few resources are being invested in welfare and thinks it's time to legislate for shorter working hours.
Amanda Lind also highlights defense and is particularly pleased that the opposition managed to get investments in civil defense into the defense agreement.
But the Green party wants to go further – and a call to the government is to proceed with an extended civil duty. The Green party wants civil duty to also include elderly care, agriculture, and transport.
For you who grow food on the fields out here, you who work on the railway, and you who take care of the elderly and sick, or the children in preschool – you are part of our defense, says Lind.
Another climate party?
The Green party imagines that there should be two tracks – one that deals with getting an education in civil duty after conscription, and another where one should be able to be investigated to fit into civil duty.
Exactly how it should be done, to catch people who have the competence and work in the profession, each authority must look at, said Lind to TT earlier in the day.
The Center Party also tried to profile itself as a climate party in Almedalen on Wednesday.
What do you think of the Center Party's climate policy?
It's great that more parties are talking about the climate. Then it's very important that you also come up with concrete proposals that actually reduce emissions, says Amanda Lind.
