It is a technology company based in the USA and the UK that is behind the proposal for a new search effort.
The proposal from Ocean Infinity for a search effort is solid and deserves to be considered, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke and adds that the government has accepted it.
The search will take place in a new area of approximately 15,000 square kilometers in the southern Indian Ocean, according to Loke.
The Boeing 777 plane with 239 people on board was on its way from Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, and disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff. Satellite data shows that the plane deviated from its route and is believed to have crashed in the southern Indian Ocean.
The search for MH370 was discontinued without result in 2017 and has cost Malaysia, Australia, and China 151 million dollars (around 1.4 billion kronor).
