Multiple Olympic Games and World Championship gold medalist Michael Johnson is behind the initiative, which premieres in Jamaica's capital Kingston on Friday.
Grand Slam Track, as it is called, gathers some of the world's top track and field athletes in sprint, hurdling, middle- and long-distance events. Among the participants are several reigning Olympic Games gold medalists, such as Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (400 m hurdles), Gabrielle Thomas (200 m), Cole Hocker (1,500 m), and Quincy Hall (400 m).
The four planned competition weekends consist of 24 events each. In addition to Kingston, three American cities – Miami, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles – will host the season's competitions.
The total prize money amounts to over 130 million kronor, according to a press release from Warner Bros Discovery. It is also Warner Bros that, through the streaming service Max, has secured the broadcasting rights in Sweden for the coming years.
"I'm really looking forward to broadcasting this after track and field has also had a strong start to the year with several world records early on," says former Swedish long jumper Peter Häggström Lindecrantz, who will be an expert commentator in Max's broadcasts, in a press release.
