There is great uncertainty among Swedish companies about what actually applies, says Foreign Trade Minister Benjamin Dousa (M) at a press conference.

He points to the inconsistency in the messages about tariffs in recent times and how difficult it is to keep up with the developments. In the past week, US President Donald Trump has introduced, announced and withdrawn trade tariffs at a frantic pace, and the stock market has plummeted.

The customs hotline is to be set up as a telephone hotline at the Swedish Agency for Trade and will be open Monday to Friday.

Above all, it's about providing information, and then about very practical things such as what freight costs or what tariff rate applies.

Benjamin Dousa believes that it will primarily be small and medium-sized companies that will get in touch, companies that do not have their own lawyers who can keep track of all the details and changes.

The advice is to have a bit of ice in your stomach. The uncertainty and inconsistency will hopefully decrease in the coming weeks, says Dousa, referring to the hopes that negotiations can get underway between the EU and the US.
