Goal party in the top meeting – Kulusevski goal scorer again

Dejan Kulusevski's goal for the fifth match in a row played a minor role. Instead, Arne Slot wished Liverpool a Merry Christmas with a real firecracker. The table leader knocked out Tottenham with 6–3 in a real goal fest.

It was set up for an exciting thriller when Liverpool visited Tottenham in the Premier League.

But it never became a real thriller, before Liverpool took a firm grip.

The first goal came after just over 20 minutes of play, when Trent Alexander-Arnold found Luis Diaz's head at exactly the right moment.

And just 13 minutes later, it was time again, when Mac Allister extended. At halftime, the score was 3–1 to Liverpool, which created chance after chance.

Salah's new show

What was surprising, however, was that the big star of the autumn in the Premier League, Mohamed Salah, "only" had an assist.

But in the second half, he would show his true self again. Two goals from the Egyptian, and the match was closed.

But despite the lack of drama, you couldn't complain about the entertainment value.

The goal fest continued in the second half, and when referee Samuel Barrott blew the whistle for the last time, he could note that nine goals had been scored. The final score was 6–3 to Liverpool.

We were very good going forward, but defensively, we need to get better as a team and not just individually. Conceding three goals is pretty tough. Virgil (Van Dijk, defender) can probably talk more about that part than me. But yes, it was a good match from us, says Mohamed Salah to Viaplay.

One of the goal scorers for Tottenham was Swedish Dejan Kulusevski. The 24-year-old thus scored a goal for the fifth match in a row. A nice streak, even if the goal played a smaller role this time.

Happy faces at the Christmas celebration

The win means that the Liverpool players can celebrate Christmas as league leaders, with a four-point lead and one game less played than second-placed Chelsea.

For Tottenham, it won't be quite as merry at the Christmas table. The London team is in 11th place in the table, and has eight points up to fourth place, which guarantees Champions League play next season.
