”The Defense can confirm that drones have been observed at several defense facilities tonight. Several resources participated in the operations”, the Defense writes on its website.
The Danish Ministry of Transport announced on Sunday that it is closing the country's airspace for flights with civilian drones for a week. The closure comes into effect on September 29 and applies until October 3. This is during the same period that Denmark is hosting the EU summit.
Strengthening drone defense
”We are currently in a difficult security situation, and we must ensure the best possible working conditions for the Defense and the Police when they are responsible for security during the EU summit. A task that already requires a major effort from our authorities, who work around the clock to protect the Danes and our guests”, says Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen according to a press release.
Earlier today, Troels Lund Poulsen wrote on X that Germany will help Denmark with equipment against drones.
“I want to thank Germany for the help, which strengthens our drone defense and is an expression of close Danish-German cooperation. Together we are stronger”, he writes.
The post does not specify what type of equipment it is about.
”Hybrid war”
The Ministry of Defense had previously stated on X that the help from Germany will strengthen security during the EU summit in Copenhagen next week.
Over the past week, several drone incidents have occurred at several of Denmark's airports. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said earlier in the week that the country has been subjected to a ”hybrid war”.
