Germany's government approved arms exports to the value of 12.8 billion euro – equivalent to around 142 billion kronor – during the past year. The significant increase is largely due to the German military support to Ukraine, according to a report from the German federal parliament on Wednesday.
Of the record amount, 8.2 billion euro was earmarked for Ukraine's defense in the Russian invasion war.
According to the report, 86 percent of the export of war material went to EU and NATO countries and the countries that support Ukraine – including Singapore and South Korea – in addition to Ukraine. As a single country, Ukraine received 64 percent of the total German arms export.
The majority of the export concerned military vehicles, but also bombs, torpedoes, robot systems and warships were included in the export.
