Inflation in stagnating Germany – which has just left its second year with a shrinking gross national product (GNP) behind it – rose to 2.6 percent in December, according to a second calculation made by the German statistics agency Destatis.
The figure is in line with a preliminary calculation about a week ago, where December inflation in Europe's largest economy was estimated to be exactly 2.6 percent.
In November, the inflation rate, i.e. price changes in annual terms, was 2.2 percent.
According to the EU-harmonized inflation measure, German inflation in December was 2.8 percent.
