A final climb at the Tour de Ski. Then Frida Karlsson takes a short break from skiing to tend to her throbbing heel. "I'm going to get on the bike for a while," she says after the sprint competition.

Ski star Frida Karlsson advanced from the sprint qualifying round on the Olympic course in Val di Fiemme, but was then eliminated in the quarterfinals.

Karlsson continued to feel the heel pain that she has had on and off for several years, which she discussed on Friday.

I think I lose quite a few percent because I don't trust the skiing and get quite tense, says the 26-year-old.

If it gets steep uphill, I get scared and start tripping instead of putting power into the skis, she says.

She plans to ski Sunday's final stage of the Tour de Ski - the climb up Alpe Cermis - but then plans to put her skis aside for a while.

I think I'm going to step away from skiing and get on the bike for a while to change my movement patterns and kind of strengthen the tendon a little again.

Karlsson expects about a week of another form of training.

I've had several periods like this, so I know it can be fixed pretty quickly.
