Nashville had previously lost four matches in a row.
But it was not until a while later that the home team took control of the match, in the beginning of the second period they were down 0-2. Then it went quickly. Nashville equalized to 2-2 and after a pass from teammate Luke Evangelista, Filip Forsberg rushed forward over the ice with the puck, was stopped by the goalkeeper - but managed to put in the rebound anyway.
A short while later, he made an assist, and with barely 40 seconds left of the match, he sent in a second goal into the opponent's empty net. Nashville took home the win with 5-2.
There have been times this season when we've just leaned back and tried to hold on to something. Tonight was the exact opposite, says Filip Forsberg to NHL.com.
I think we kept pushing forward, kept pressing on, kept getting chances. That's the way we need to continue.
Leo Carlsson became the match winner for his San Jose, which beat Boston with 3-1. The 20-year-old took advantage of a goalkeeper's rebound and set the 2-1 goal with 3.23 left of the third period.
William Eklund gave San Jose the lead 2.13 into the first period. Then both Swedes were involved in the build-up to 3-1, which Barclay Goodrow set into an empty net with 50 seconds left of the match, when Boston had taken out their goalkeeper in their pursuit of equalization.
The win is, however, a small consolation for San Jose, which is last in the western conference and cannot reach the playoffs.
