Stunned in the first two matches - goal-scorer in the round of 16. Tre Kronor's star forward Filip Forsberg is looking forward to the hot quarter-final against the USA: "It will be a fantastic challenge," he says after the 5-1 victory over Latvia.

Tre Kronor will have less than 24 hours to recharge before Wednesday night's quarterfinal against the USA, which finished second in the group stage behind Canada.

"It's clear it's going to be tight, but this season has taught us to play a lot of games in a short time," says Forsberg, referring to the NHL's compressed schedule during an Olympic season.

"It's just a matter of getting a good rest now," says Forsberg.

Filip Forsberg may be the best Swedish scorer in the NHL this season, but the national team has had some trouble scoring goals in recent tournaments.

"Fantastic pass"

All the better that he managed Erik Karlsson's fantastic pass for his first Olympic goal.

"Any of you would have scored on that too," he says to journalists in the mixed zone.

"A fantastic pass, not many can pull off something like that, but strangely enough, you expect it from him," says Forsberg about the 3-0 goal where Karlsson, after a long raid in the attacking zone, found the Nashville forward parked at the far post.

Forsberg was benched in the first two games, but has since been given the chance with his creativity and goal-scoring ability to show how important he is.

Especially in the knockout matches.

"It feels good, you've been ready the whole time. Now you get to play a little more, contribute and create chances," he says.

"Should be emotions"

He expects a tough battle against the USA:

"It will be a tougher, more physical match. We're used to facing each other over there, so both teams know the strengths and weaknesses."

Brothers Matthew (0+5 so far) and Brady Tkachuk (2+1) are two of the big stars in the USA and no one has forgotten the fights before the first meeting with Canada in last year's Four Nations.

How do you stay cool when the two of them are trying to get under your skin?

"It's the Olympic quarter-finals; you don't need much more motivation to stay cool. Then there's hockey, it's supposed to be emotional; they bring up emotions, but we have some guys on our team who do that too," says Forsberg.
