Today, admission to the Natural History Museum, Tate Modern, British Museum and a number of other British museums is free, but the major institutions need to increase revenue.
Just over 40 percent of visitors to British museums come from other countries, and now Minister of Culture Lisa Nandy will investigate the possibility of charging fees to foreign visitors, reports Sveriges Radio's Kulturnytt.
A prerequisite for entry is said to be that Britain first introduces digital ID cards for its population so that museums can decide who should pay.
