The American vehicle manufacturer Ford Motor is investing three billion dollars (equivalent to 31.5 billion kronor) to be able to start building more units of the profitable Super Duty F-series – an unusually large version of so-called pick-up vehicles.
Most of the money will go towards new tools at a factory in Ontario, Canada, which has previously been earmarked for the production of electric vehicles.
The production of so-called electric SUVs at The Oakville Assembly Complex in Ontario has recently been postponed for at least two years. The production of Super Duty F-vehicles at the same factory is scheduled to start in 2026, according to the plan now presented, and Ford expects to have 1,800 employees at the factory.
In total, the multi-billion investment will increase Ford's production of Super Duty F-vehicles by 100,000 units per year.
