Overall, regular grocery prices fell 0.3 percent in April. Prices for fruit and berries fell 1.1 percent, driven by rhubarb, strawberries, peaches and avocados, which all became at least 5 percent cheaper.
According to Matpriskollen, the VAT reduction has had an effect. Its analysis shows that all the major grocery chains have reduced their prices in accordance with the new VAT rate.
"For an average Swedish family with children, this means a noticeable relief in the monthly food budget of approximately 500 kronor," says Ulf Mazur, CEO of Matpriskollen, in a press release.
