A sixth man, who was also charged with a particularly serious drug offense, has been acquitted.
In May last year, a foreign truck driver picked up a banana container containing at least 1,200 kilograms of cocaine at the port of Helsingborg.
Found by chance
A few days later, the police found just over 200 kilograms of cocaine in a Malmö apartment during a response to a burglary alarm.
The truck driver who transported the drugs from the port of Helsingborg was sentenced to eight years in prison and banished for life.
Three men, residents of Norway, were convicted of participating in the transport. Two of them were sentenced to eight years in prison and banishment for life. The third, who was 17 at the time, was sentenced to closed juvenile care and banishment for life.
Rival group
The man who kept the cocaine in his Malmö apartment was sentenced to seven years in prison for aiding and abetting. The prosecutor requested deportation, but this was rejected because the district court judged that the man had “very strong ties to Sweden.”
The man who was acquitted had been suspected of stealing at least 270 kilograms of cocaine in connection with the burglary in the Malmö apartment. However, the district court found that the evidence was not strong enough.
According to SVT Skåne, the man belongs to a rival group.
