FIFA President Gianni Infantino is facing fierce criticism even within FIFA. The organisation's chief operating officer, Kevin Lamour, says staff have been misled by Infantino's plans and deserve "better than contempt and threats."
Lamour, who has worked with Infantino at FIFA and UEFA, says he will not step down from his post, which he has held since 2024. But Lamour stresses that he has a responsibility to his colleagues.
If it means I lose my job, so be it. I will understand the decision, but at least I will be able to sleep well tonight.
On Friday morning, Gianni Infantino's former senior adviser Carlos Cordeiro resigned in protest against the federation's proposal to sell shares in its championships.
