"Today we are announcing a genuine collaboration between the 'peace council' and FIFA. I am very happy and satisfied," Infantino said on stage.
FIFA and the so-called 'peace council' plan to "build a complete ecosystem of football in Gaza," according to a video from the event. The video says, among other things, that a national stadium will be built in Gaza, with space for up to 25,000 spectators.
Ahead of this summer's World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Infantino has faced widespread criticism, including for awarding a new peace prize to Trump. A human rights organization has reported him to FIFA's ethics committee for violating rules on political neutrality.
