According to the VMA (important message to the public) that was sent out earlier on Monday, the outage could mean disruptions in the fixed and mobile telecommunications networks.
It was just before lunchtime on Monday that the police and rescue services were alerted to a suspected explosion in Mölndal.
Explosions-like fire
They call it an explosions-like fire. But there is no suspicion that anything has detonated, that is, that someone has placed something there, said the police's press spokesperson Thomas Fuxborg to TT at 16 o'clock.
No one is said to have been injured in connection with the incident, which is being investigated as a workplace accident caused by danger to others. What may have been behind it is currently unclear.
Vattenfall has apparently been on the site in the morning for a work. It could be a cause, says Thomas Fuxborg.
Suspected bird
Even the energy company Ellevio uses the affected substation. The company will investigate the matter further, but the press chief Jesper Liveröd says to TT that they currently believe it to be a grass fire that has spread.
The grass fire appears to have been caused by spark formation. It looks like it may have been a bird that flew into the lines and caused some kind of short circuits, which led to the fire spreading, he says.
The site has been cordoned off and a technical investigation will be carried out at the earliest on Tuesday.
The fire led to a large power outage in, among other things, Partille and Mölndal. On its website, the municipality has urged residents to be frugal with water.
According to Mölndal Energi, 23,000 customers were affected by the power outage. The tram traffic in Mölndal has been stationary all day, traffic signals have stopped working and several shops and shopping centers have been without power.
Just after 17, Mölndal Energi announced that the power was back on.
