What the experts - Ove Bring, Mark Klamberg, Said Mahmoudi and Pål Wrang - are referring to are statements from Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch (KD).
"This constitutes - at best - a total misconception about the role of international law in the world and its importance for Sweden. At worst, it is a departure from Sweden's long-standing traditional line, namely that international law is a cornerstone of Swedish foreign policy," they write.
The government's criticism of Israel and the US is described as belated and cautious. That it is balanced with justified criticism of Iran is "entirely reasonable," they write, but add:
"Caution, however, has a price, as it reduces our credibility if we judge different countries by different yardsticks."
