The EU Parliament voted on Tuesday to finally approve the EU's new driving license rules, which, among other things, bring the new B1 car that in practice will replace the A-traktor.

In the rules, it is included that young people from 15 years should be able to drive a car that may weigh a maximum of 2,500 kilos with a maximum speed of 45 kilometers per hour. However, it will be required that one has passed both a practical and a theoretical driving test.

Other changes include new collective rules for digital driving licenses, validity period and health checks. When the rules are shortly also formally approved by the EU Council of Ministers, the member states will have up to four years to implement the changes.

Previously, the EU Parliament had voted for a proposal to raise the age limit for A-traktors from 15 to 16 years in the future, but the current 15-year limit will thus remain.

Today's Swedish A-traktors have a maximum speed of 30 kilometers per hour. The government announces, via Minister for Infrastructure Andreas Carlson (KD), that they will now "investigate how the new rules will be implemented in Swedish legislation".
