In the document, it appears that bourbon, wine, and dairy products have been removed from the list that the commission presented as a proposal in March. On the other hand, tariffs will be imposed on, among other things, diamonds, sausage, nuts, soybeans, and dental floss.
A previous bid stated that the EU would introduce tariffs worth 26 billion euros, to match the steel and aluminum tariffs introduced at the beginning of March. Since then, US President Donald Trump has flagged additional tariffs, but they have not yet taken effect.
However, the value in the EU Commission's new proposal does not reach 26 billion euros. The reason, according to Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, is that they have listened to and taken into account the member states' opinions.
No decision has been made. Some of the tariffs are intended to take effect on May 16, while others will not take effect until December 1.
