More than half of the cities and municipalities within the EU plan to increase their climate efforts to reduce emissions, according to a survey from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
1,002 municipalities in all 27 EU countries responded to the survey, and 56 percent stated that they plan to make more investments to reduce emissions.
"Municipalities across Europe are showing a strong commitment to the green transition", says EIB's chief economist Debora Revoltella in a press release.
Almost half of the municipalities and cities also plan to allocate more money to adapt to the effects of climate change, such as protecting against floods and fires.
