Elias Ymer's journey in Båstad ended immediately. He fell in the first round against Indian Sumit Nagal in two straight sets (4-6, 3-6).
I'm still satisfied. I played winning tennis, but lost the match, says the Swede.
Ymer is the highest ranked male Swedish tennis player (202). But in the meeting with Nagal, who is significantly higher ranked (68), he couldn't resist despite the support of the home crowd in the drizzle.
The Indian broke Ymer's serve in the seventh game of the first set and could then hold his own serve until the set win. In the second, Nagal played safely, broke early, and Ymer could never threaten. In the next round, Nagal will meet Argentine Mariano Navone. The winner there can face Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals if the Spaniard reaches that far in the tournament.
