Although Egypt looked the stronger side and had most of the possession, the opening goal was scored by New Zealand - a 15th-minute header from Finn Surman at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
In the second half, Egypt took control of the scoring. World Cup debutant Mostafa Ziko first scored an equalizer and, within minutes, set up star Mohamed Salah to put Egypt ahead.
Teammate Trezeguet then added another after just a few minutes on the pitch.
After drawing with Belgium earlier and winning against New Zealand last night, Egypt now has a good chance of advancing to the playoffs. The country leads Group G with four points.
New Zealand, the lowest-ranked of all World Cup teams, next faces Belgium.
