The Christian Democrats leader Ebba Busch is holding a speech in front of party friends in Knivsta, between Uppsala and Stockholm, on Saturday. The speech is a starting point for next year's election on September 13.
A clear theme is Swedish values, but also the recent demonstrations against the war in Gaza. For example, screaming Palestine activists followed Minister for Civil Defense Carl-Oskar Bohlin when he was on his way home during the week.
”Aggressive attacks”
These are unacceptable verbal and directly barbaric, aggressive attacks on our streets, says Ebba Busch.
We should not have this outside Sweden's legislative assembly. We should not have troublemakers outside the palace. We should reclaim order on our streets and squares.
The Christian Democrats believe that the police must have clearer conditions for demonstrations and manifestations. Therefore, they now propose that individuals who repeatedly engage in what they call "antisocial dominant behavior" should be able to get a restraining order against affected persons and be banned from public places.
If a person repeatedly abuses their right to demonstrate by threatening others, inciting violence or romanticizing terrorist crimes, then they should be able to get a restraining order, says Busch.
She means that disturbing and sometimes aggressive demonstrators are already affecting democracy. This makes parties hesitant to hold square meetings and other activities, and it makes Busch's speech held in a conference room where the public is not invited.
That we today do not have our kick-off on an open square meeting is a direct result of the Palestine activists, says Busch.
Stricter penalties
The Christian Democrats also want to see stricter penalties for threats and harassment against politicians as well as possible new legislation against anti-Semitism in demonstrations.
In a debate article in SvD they also raise proposals that the Tidö parties are driving, such as tightened citizenship requirements, where "lack of virtue" can lead to rejection or withdrawal of citizenship for persons with dual citizenship. Those who are not Swedish citizens and arrange activities where calls for violence or threats against, for example, elected officials or journalists, or who provide support to terrorism, should according to the Christian Democrats be deported.
