It is risky for a company's future to move to a country led by such an unpredictable leader, says Busch at a press conference during the Christian Democrats' municipal days in Karlstad.
The appeal is: Choose Sweden.
Incredibly Unfortunate
Busch also says that the escalation now seen with China announcing a 34 percent tariff on American goods is "incredibly unfortunate"
This is the result when you initiate a trade war.
On the question of what the EU should respond to the US with, Busch says:
This will involve countermeasures, but we will do so collectively within the EU and we (read: the government) will try to find a way that still protects Swedish input goods as much as possible.
Endure
Ebba Busch expects the uncertainty about what to expect from President Trump and his administration to endure.
Yes, it is Trump's signature.
After the US tariff announcement, Volvo Cars' CEO Håkan Samuelsson said that it may be a matter of increasing production in the US. But he was simultaneously vague about what it could mean for the operations in Sweden.
If the cars for the US were previously made in Gothenburg, they will now have to be made in the US. But on the other hand, we expect the company to grow and take market shares. I see no future where we need to scale down in Gothenburg, said Samuelsson.
If the conclusion is to move operations to the US, the Minister of Enterprise believes it is a wrong one.
Choose Sweden, do not choose the unpredictability that comes with pushing more on the US at this point, use the opportunities that exist to push on in the EU to reduce the regulatory burden, says Busch.
She adds that she needs all the help she can get on that issue..
