”I welcome the reports that Israel intends to introduce humanitarian corridors and humanitarian pauses in Gaza. It should have been done a long time ago”, says the minister in a written comment.
He adds that the government is following the implementation “hour by hour”.
”Now it needs to become reality. My hope is that the trucks filled with food, medicines, sanitary products and camp beds can reach the suffering population.
Benjamin Dousa states that the situation is ”extremely acute” and that the Israeli government must "ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access throughout Gaza”.
At the same time, it is reported that aid deliveries by air have been resumed. The Minister for Development Cooperation is, however, skeptical of this solution.
”Emergency aid from the air has previously proven to entail major challenges, and I have difficulty seeing that airborne deliveries would meet the enormous needs in Gaza”.
