It was the women's turn to inaugurate the new 5-kilometer heat mass start at the Tour de Ski. Both Emma Ribom and Moa Ilar made the podium.

Jessie Diggins, USA, won the race. She competed in the third heat and skied in 10:51.2.

Ribom and Ilar were in the same heat as Diggins, and came in second and third respectively, five and seven seconds behind the American.

On television, Ribom could be seen in tears after finishing second.

There has been so much pole out, so it was nice to have a pole in. It could be my best day on skis in all of 2025, nice to end the year like this, I'm really happy, Ribom told Viaplay.

“What a fucking fabrication”

Ilar describes the race as "brutal".

It was really tough from the start and it was nerve-wracking at the end. But it was nice to get third place, it's an uncertain distance so it was fun to get to the podium, Ilar said.

Frida Karlsson raced in the first heat and started strongly. But then the Swede collapsed and finished 52nd overall.

Moa Lundgren competed in the same heat as Karlsson and finished in 31st place.

What a fucking invention. I was so speechless when the hills came, and then it was just high frequency, high frequency, high frequency.

It was a blast, damn how disgusting, I've never been so dumb, Lundgren continued.

Behind Ribom and Ilar, Ebba Andersson was the best Swede in seventh place, followed by Maja Dahlqvist in ninth.

Ilar third overall

Evelina Crusell came in 25th, Märta Rosenberg 41st, and Lisa Eriksson and Johanna Hagström took 63rd and 64th place.

The race was divided into four heats with 20–21 skiers in each.

Jessie Diggins continues to top the overall standings of the tour, followed by Norwegian Astrid Øyre Slind 50 seconds behind and Moa Ilar another 10 seconds behind.
