He has started the World Cup season with three consecutive podium finishes. But in the sprint in Östersund, Sebastian Samuelsson ended up outside the podium. It was quite tough out on the track, a bit of a struggle up front, says the biathlete about fifth place.

3–1–3 was the result that Sebastian Samuelsson brought with him to the 10 km sprint in a snowy and windy Östersund.

The Swede shot full in prone and then sniffed further success in the World Cup.

Then a boom came in a vertical direction.

In terms of skiing, it was good but not the best feeling, but I don't think anyone had that, he tells SVT.

The prone shooting was really good. The standing bar must have been a real edger, that's how it feels anyway. Then I just stood with everything I have at the end.

The miss caused the 28-year-old to drop down the results list and ultimately finish fifth. By Sunday's chase start, he is 25.1 seconds behind the winner.

Malte Stefansson was the second best Swede in tenth place.

Norwegian Johan-Olav Botn won in a time of 24.26.3 ahead of compatriot Martin Uldal and Quentin Fillon Maillet from France.
