French police have found DNA traces on a helmet and a glove believed to have been left behind by the thieves in the jewel heist against the Louvre in Paris over the weekend, reports ABC News.

In just a few minutes, four thieves managed to get away with jewelry worth a total of 88 million euros – equivalent to over 960 million kronor – in the heist against the Louvre. So far, no suspect has been arrested.

The DNA traces on the helmet and glove are being analyzed now in the hope of getting to the perpetrators. Both objects are believed to have been used during the theft.

The Louvre's director Laurence des Cars admitted during an interrogation in the French senate on Wednesday that there were certain deficiencies in the security at the museum. All alarms functioned as they should during the robbery, but the camera surveillance was inadequate with "insufficient coverage" according to des Cars.

The museum director is said to have offered to resign from the post but was refused by the Minister of Culture.
