Djurgården used the veteran Linus Klasen, 39 years, in two junior matches during the weekend. Now the club is reported to the disciplinary board. The rules in the series regulations are crystal clear, says Mike Helber, strategic sports manager at the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, to Aftonbladet.

Linus Klasen has been struggling with an injury in the season opener and has not played with Djurgården in SHL.

Therefore, the club chose to test him in the U20 team in the home games against Mora on Saturday and Leksand on Sunday.

But it goes against the new rules. From this season, only three over-age players and one goalkeeper may be used and they must have been born no earlier than 2005.

Djurgården contacted the association in advance and received a message that Linus Klasen was not allowed to be used.

It's true, says Helber to Aftonbladet.

Djurgården's sports manager Niklas Wikegård says in a video on the club's website that they were not aware of the rules in advance and received the message when the Saturday match had already started. For Sunday's match, they chose to deliberately break the new rule.

We think the rule is wrong and want to test these rules. So we made a deliberate choice on Sunday. We think they have gone a bit wrong and want a return to the old rules, says Wikegård.

Djurgården lost both matches and what's worse, Klasen got injured in connection with Sunday's match and is expected to be out for a longer period.
