Swedish freeskiing star Henrik Harlaut has suffered a concussion and will miss Saturday's slopestyle qualifying at the Olympics.

"He will not compete tomorrow. Now we will try to optimize the chances of recovery in time for the big air event at the end of next week," says team doctor Jakob Swanberg in a statement from the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK).

Harlaut lost his balance during a training run on Friday and suffered a concussion. The 34-year-old won bronze in big air at the Olympics four years ago.

National team captain Oscar Wester tells Aftonbladet that Harlaut is doing well under the circumstances.

He is being examined by doctors right now to see how serious it is, says Wester.

The men's big air qualification will be decided on February 15, and a decision on Harlaut's participation will be made in a few days, SOK announces.

Corrected: In an earlier version of the text, the team doctor Jakob Swanberg was given the wrong surname.
