Lifetime imprisonment in Denmark may mean at least 20 years.
This is clear from a new political agreement, which the majority of the Folketing's parties support. The agreement contains a number of tougher penalties that the country is expected to introduce from next year.
A change to the life sentence would mean that the minimum time for the sentence almost doubles. Today, it is at least 12 years of imprisonment that applies before a person can be conditionally released.
