The government and the Sweden Democrats announced in an opinion piece in Aftonbladet that the Defamation Act will be reviewed.

This applies, for example, to the extent one may disseminate information about convictions to warn those around them about people who have been convicted of serious crimes such as sexual crimes against children.

"There are several examples where individual citizens in their local community have informed neighbors about it and have also been convicted in court for defamation," said Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) to TT.

Several other measures to "stop and punish" pedophiles are being presented. These include proposals to clarify that police officers are allowed to pose as children to identify people suspected of committing sexual crimes online.

Sara Nilsson, publisher of the pedophile hunter website Dumpen, was recently convicted of gross defamation after the site published information that a named man had sought sexual contact with children.
