We received an alarm at 16.14 that a member of the public had found an object in a public area in this multi-family house, says the police's press spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
The residents of two stairwells were confined to their apartments and the area was cordoned off. Later, the police were able to determine that the object was harmless.
This object was designed in a way that we believe was intended to make it look dangerous, but it wasn't, says Olsson.
A report of unlawful threats against a group has been filed.
It's not a specific group of people that's intended, but rather people who have been affected and frightened by this, says Olsson.
The police describe the object as a "homemade device".
The National Bomb Squad's initial assessment based on a photo they received was that if this were real, it would rather start burning if it went off, not explode, says Olsson.
No one has been arrested.
An explosion occurred in a doorway to a multi-family house on Rosengård during the night leading up to Saturday. No one was injured in the incident.
