The 37-year-old superstar and captain is playing his first World Championship in ice hockey since Canada's gold in the Czech Republic in 2015.
In his WC comeback on Saturday, Sidney Crosby remained point-less in the 4–0 win against Slovenia at the Globen (Avicii arena). On Sunday, he made three assists when Latvia was crushed 7–1. Then, on Tuesday evening, came Pittsburgh center's first goal since the WC final against Russia for almost ten years ago, on May 17, 2015, when Canada won 6–1 in Prague.
Crosby nicely set Canada's 3–0 goal against France, in power play after 17.31 in the second period. The legend – who has won the Stanley Cup three times, the Olympic Games twice, and the World Championship, World Cup, and NHL's Four Nations once – quickly turned, dribbled through the right face-off circle, and flipped the puck into the net behind goalkeeper Julian Junca.
Canada, which was superior and won 5–0, tops group A ahead of Sweden on better goal difference. Both teams have full points, nine points, after three played matches. The big nations meet in the final group stage round on Tuesday next week.
