The sun was shining and Ullevi was packed when IFK Göteborg brought out their best sides in the quarterfinal against Hammarby.
In the 25th minute, the Norwegian newcomer Tobias Heintz gave the home team the lead when he headed in a corner. But then it was all about his compatriot and colleague.
The former troublemaker Eman Markovic struck with a hat-trick and set the final score to 4–0, and sent his IFK Göteborg on to the semifinal in the Swedish Cup.
It feels fantastic. It's a dream, and I'm very proud today, he says to TV4 Play.
Returned from camp
In 2023, he was so unwanted that he was forced to train on his own alongside the regular training. Moreover, the 25-year-old was dropped from going to the training camp in Portugal with the rest of the team.
After that, he was loaned out to Norwegian Sandefjord, but now he's back. With a vengeance.
It's been a bit of a journey. I was in the "freezer", but I made the best of the situation and trained extra every day. I took the ball out and just trained finishing, and I knew that there would be a future where the hard work would pay off. And it paid off today, so it's a nice feeling, he says.
In the semifinal, IFK Göteborg will face either Malmö FF or Elfsborg.
Decided in extra time
IFK Norrköping knocked out the underdog team Trelleborg with 3–1 – but only after extra time.
The Superettan team took the lead at the end of the first half through Felix Hörberg, but Tim Prica equalized just after the break.
In the end of regular match time, Trelleborg's Tobias Karlsson got a red card and with one man less, the home team could decide the match in extra time.
Sebastian Jörgensen and Isak Andri Sigurgeirsson scored the goals that took Norrköping to a semifinal away against Häcken.
