Before the season, Linköping replaced their star goalkeeper Marcus Högberg with the Finnish prestige acquisition Christian Heljanko.
But the season start in SHL has not turned out as planned – neither for Heljanko nor for Linköping as a team.
And now the club announces that they are terminating the contract with the goalkeeper.
"Our expectations and Christian's own expectations have not been able to be met due to various circumstances. Therefore, we have jointly chosen to terminate the agreement between us," says the men's team's sports manager Peter Jakobsson to the club's website.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper came in as the first-choice goalkeeper after several successful years in Tappara, where he won the Finnish league three times, and the CHL once.
Recently, Linköping brought in Adam Werner, previously in, among others, Malmö and Färjestad, to strengthen the goalkeeper position.
