The interview in question was published during the ongoing police operation in connection with the school shooting in Örebro on February 4. It was unpublished after a while, but before that, it was reported to the Press Ethics Committee. According to Journalistförbundet, the article was reported a record number of times.
The Press Ethics Committee writes in its decision that it "finds that the reported journalist did not show the consideration that should be shown to inexperienced interviewees according to the press ethics rules", and therefore, criticism should be directed at the journalist in question.
A decision that surprised Aftonbladet's publisher Lotta Folcker.
I'm surprised and think it's wrong to criticize the individual employee, she says to DN.
In Sweden, it is always the responsible publisher, in this case, Lotta Folcker herself, who bears the responsibility.
I would rather have seen that it was I who was criticized, since I see a great risk that the identification of an individual employee can lead to journalists becoming less secure.
