According to the unit, "new information and new evidence have emerged," without specifying what information or evidence it concerns.

Ann Widdecombe, 78, was found dead at her home in southwest England on Thursday, and a murder investigation has been launched. Police believe she was attacked around 24 hours before her body was found, sustaining serious injuries.

On Saturday, a man was arrested on suspicion of murdering the former minister.

Widdecombe was a Conservative minister at the Home Office and the Department of Employment and Social Affairs from 1994 to 1997 under Prime Minister John Major. In 2019, she became a Member of the European Parliament for the Brexit Party, later transformed into Reform UK.
