Only one round has been played in the group stage, but so far Scandinavian success is complete. Gyökeres and Isak found each other immediately. A goal each in the 5-1 crushing of Tunisia - and they set each other up for the goals in Monterrey.

But in terms of goals, they were outscored by midfielder Yasin Ayari. His two strikes received a lot of international attention. He is one of the few players to have scored two goals so far.

"It's cool that there are big names there, but I didn't come to the World Cup to win the top scorer's award," he says.

High spirits

The national team sent a clear message - if coach Graham Potter's eleven works both offensively and defensively, Sweden can one day compete with the very best.

In Norway, spirits have been high anyway since the phenomenal qualifying. The mood did not drop after the 3-1 match against Sweden in Ullevål recently.

Against Iraq, the Norwegians secured a comfortable 3-0 win. Haaland immediately introduced himself by scoring two goals. Several Swedish players watched the match, but not Anthony Elanga.

"I was with my daughter. They might have played well if it was 4-1," he says.

Fun for them, Ayari notes.

The successful start means that both Sweden and Norway have taken big steps towards a round of 16. They could already meet there - but then a number of scenarios must be fulfilled.

+ Sweden must finish no better than third in Group F and will be one of the eight third-place teams to advance.

+ Norway must win Group I - in competition with France and Senegal.

Then, according to a calculation published by the Norwegian newspaper VG, the chance of a Nordic round of 16 is 83.6 percent. The second most likely group winner as an opponent (10.6 percent) plays in Group E, which Germany tops after the first group stage.

Don't want to speculate

According to the simulations, a meeting with Norway is the fifth most likely. Anthony Elanga does not want to speculate. When asked if he wants to meet Norway in the World Cup, he answers:

"I'd rather focus on the game against the Netherlands. Hopefully we can win it and then we can look forward. They have world-class players, but so do we. Hopefully we can give them and the Swedish people a good game."

Yasin Ayari is not particularly keen on a possible Nordic meeting.

"It doesn't matter who we get. We're going to win every game we play," he says.
