The man is sentenced to a conditional sentence and day fines at Helsingborg District Court.
"The accused can be linked in various ways to the actual leak at the Public Health Agency and to the website that later published the information," says presiding judge Andreas Gustafsson according to a press release.
The evidence in the case shows that the information was retrieved from the Public Health Agency in March 2022. At that time, the former consultant had been tasked with moving the national vaccination registry to a new server at the Public Health Agency.
A large number of the affected children have requested damages for violation. The District Court finds that the children's personal integrity has been violated through publication, but does not believe that it has been proven that the violations were serious enough to warrant damages.
The Public Health Agency has also requested damages of nearly 2.4 million kronor for investigation costs. The District Court, however, believes that the police should have conducted the investigative work and therefore denies the Public Health Agency damages.
