Comebacking Olympic gold medalist Sandra Näslund is showing top form straight into the World Cup. For the second day in a row, the 29-year-old was fastest in the ski cross qualifying in Val Thorens.

Qualifying for Thursday's and Friday's ski cross finals in France has now been held for two days in a row. Both times Sandra Näslund has been fastest.

In Wednesday's qualifying, the Swede was 52 hundredths ahead of German Daniela Maier and a full 1.22 seconds ahead of third-place Saskja Lack, Switzerland.

It was in last year's World Cup premiere in Val Thorens that Näslund suffered a fracture in her tibia. Only now, a year later, is she back on the ski cross course. Näslund has one Olympic gold medal and three World Cup gold medals to her credit. She has won the overall ski cross World Cup four times.

Linnea Mobärg took the 16th and last place in Friday's final competitions, which begin with the quarterfinals.

On the men's side, David Mobärg was the fastest of all. A big difference compared to Tuesday's qualifying when Mobärg finished in 33rd place and missed Thursday's final by the smallest possible margin.

Måns Abersten (27th) and Erik Mobärg (30th) will also compete in the final on Friday. On the men's side, the top 32 from the qualifiers will advance to the round of 16.
